"From hero to messenger boy"

Wild Card couldn't believe it! How did he managed to go from hero and secret Avenger to messenger boy!? That's what the young masked hero was thinking as he sped down the road on his motorcycle in full hero gear. Natasha had given him a note to pass onto the X-men known as Rogue at the Xavier school for gifted youngsters. Once he finished delivering the message he would have words with his leader because even though he owned a pizza shop he wasn't okay with being a delivery boy. 

It didn't take Wild Card long to reach the gate of the rather large mansion. As he got closer to the gate, the young masked hero decided to avoid the whole being buzzed in thing by stopping his bike outside the gate. He then held out his left arm toward a tree past the gate and had his suit shoot a grappling hook out of the his upper left wrist. Once it connected with the tree, Wild Card let the force pull him off of his motorcycle and over the gate and it's wall while making sure to detach his grapple before he hit the tree.

Once the grapple retracted back into his suit, Wild Card headed up to the front door and decided that Since Hank Mcoy had told him he was always welcome he would go ahead and walk right in and so that's what he did. Once he walked inside, he decided he would keep his cowl on because as far as he knew only two of the proper x-men knew his secret identity and he aimed to keep it that way for now. The young hero looked around and realized that for a school it was a bit to quiet and that made him a bit nervous. WC knew that some kind of alarm would be going off to let them know of an intuder but he decided that he didn't want to wait that long and so he stuck two fingers in his mouth and let out a loud whistle.

"If anyone cares, a masked man just walked through your front door!!"

Daphne was a thinking going for a walk herself outside the mansion. That is she been out in the backyard. What she was doing she been out swimming that is she went underwater. That is she had been laying under the water that is with her eyes close. She looks like she was dead with her eye were close. But she only came to the surface and yeah she been under the water  when she heard the alarm go off that was silent.  She made the grab for her, not swimwear but short she pull up over her clothes.

Her hair was all wet and whatnot with the matter. That is with the water and what not with the matter.That is she grab for the pen that one used for writing that is ordered to defend herself. That is the matter and what not as she came slowly.

That is she moved slowly in search of the intruder and what not of the matter that is the matter that is. Who could it be possible to be? That is who could be coming in here. That is breaking and entering  that is. She knew what she would do if they were near the water he would be in so much trouble. She creeps silently slowly with her pen in hand ready to attack and her plan to stabbed him with the pens. That is she did not know who he was. As far she knew he was her father was quite  astray. That is with one another they did not along well. That is they did not along with one another. That is she crept up on him and she thought he was the intruder. That is she tried to grab him and well  that was something to a see by the neck.

Wild Card just rolled his eyes under his cowl as he soon heard the creaking of the floorboards as well as the sound of water dripping coming from behind him. Who ever was trying to sneak up on him was not very well versed in Stealth. WC just shook his head a bit in a bit of disappointment and boredom. Natasha was right about the fact that this team needed to get their shit together. The hero decided to mentally count to 10 and as he felt the mysterious breath down his neck he quickly ducked down and sent a quick sweep kick under the person's feet. He then shot straight up and sent out a hard palm strike so that if his first shot connected it would hit the persons center mass.

"Lesson one, being stealth doesn't work if your steps aren't quiet and if you are soaking wet and water is hitting hard wood. Lesson two, if you do not know the capabilities of your foe and you are in a location where backup is available you bring it. Last lesson, always survey and study your foe before striking."

Once his attack was over, Wild Card once again stood up straight and turned his back to his attacker. He did this for two reasons. The first was too see if his attacker was brave enough to attack him once more. The second was to test himself to see how close he could let his attacker get and still be able to take them. As he waited he opened up the first left pouch on his utility belt and pulled out Natasha's note and held it up for his attacker to see.

"Before you try and attack me again, you should know that the reason I'm here is because my boss sent me. I'm here on behave of Black Widow. She sent me here to give this to the x-men known as the Rogue. Now, I'm happy to go a couple more rounds with you but I would much rather deliver my message."

Normally Jack wouldn't be as cold to someone coming from the mansion but if he was honest with himself he wasn't in the best of moods already and being attacked by an amateur didn't help matters. He wanted to deliver his message so that he could get to training back at the SA base or maybe grab a bite to eat. He felt as if the somewhat happy Jack was not around and all that was in him currently was the stoic and rather cranky Wild Card and if he again was honest, he was alright with that.

That is she did not understand why he came here he was mask person. Most people run around in mask wear a mask. That is if he wore civilian type clothes he might have had such greeting. That is most normal people knock and what not. That is well with mask assume the worst and what not. She would not have to pounce him in such way.That is what most normal as the saying goes. What if somebody broke into his house and they wore a mask and many people assume the worst with the matter.She had landed on her back and she slowly starts to get up and well glance up at him and knock on her back by him.

"You know some people knock before entering. It is the common habit you know what  that normal people do .Then maybe people would not  assume the worst."That is she had funny Boston that is most would have thought that is the matter that is she listened with the matter and what not matter.That is most have a conversation what normal people instead flat out going in. Not mention do you think she would let some strange man into her house with the mask and well that was out the question.She could point out that flaw all the same.


"I have not seen  Rogue. I don't think she is here right now." What is he going to do now she had not seen her and she promises that she would be tried to get hold of her parent to tell them she was alright that is she was able to escape being attack by the robot and this that. By jumping off the bridge into some water and what not. She said and that was true she had not seen her and what not. What is he do now? Look like this was all for nothing he came all the way to the house to well find someone who was not here. It certainly was not for her. Half way though she wonders if the two of them had the thing going on. Just like she knew to hide her gills on her neck.

Jack groaned as the woman behind him began to lecture him and tell him that the reason she attacked him was because he was wearing a mask. Where had this woman been for months? The whole point of having a secret identity was that no one knew who he was. People who had secret identities wore masks. As the woman began getting up, WC turned to her and just crossed his arms.

"Sorry for knocking you on your back but to be honest, it was all too easy. Black Widow was right in the fact that you x-men need to step up your game and get off your asses. It won't be long until that damn registration act is up for getting passed and you know the first place the government will invade is right here in the mutant capital of the united states. I have no powers and I just walked right in the front door and knocked you on your back. If I wanted to I could have knocked you out or killed you and I'm just one guy, imagine if 100 armed swat members broke in."

Wild Card just narrowed his eyes through his cowl at the woman before him walking over to her with the note in hand. He then held it out with a scowl plastered to his face.

"Your team has some of the most powerful mutants on the planet all under one roof. It's time you guys stopped hiding in this mansion and got to work like the rest of us. I don't have any powers but you don't see me hiding away in a glorified club house all the time. Now, make sure Rogue gets this note and responds to Black Widow because if I have to come back here to run another one of her errands I'm going to be less happy then I am right now. Do I make myself clear?"

Wild Card just held out the note which was folded in half in his hand. Once it was delivered he was going to leave and head back to the secret avengers base where he could get some proper preparation done for the war that was about to happen.

Daphne well yeah he was one wearing the mask and well so do people who
robbed they worn the mask too. And people who break into other people
houses and well she watch unsolves mysteries and well was. The problem
with well with New York and Xaver she could not really practice
communication with water life here. Not a lot of animals that are smart
wise.

That is she never really consider well powerful that is
far from it. That is she could breathe underwater and well what she did
tell him was she tried to kill herself before the power came upon her.
That is, how she did she stuck under water and that when she realize she
had fish gills that keep her from drowning.

Xaver she could not really practice That is she did not
consider powerful as those here.She would not consider herself that
super powerful like Rogue or other here. Everyone here seems they are
more powerful then her. That is she was far less powerful than them.
That is she quiet computer geek more that is and what not. That is she
listened to him. He want us to a come out in the world but yet  if they
came into the world as the saying would they accept. It is why she start
makeup on tried covered things up because she thought people were
staring at her. She felt out  the place in her teen years as well she
did her best to conceal her fish gills and to not listen to the voices
she heard at Sea World. That is she made the mistake such as ignoring
the voices and just leaving because she did not want to hear it because
there too many voices that are in ocean and water that wildlife.

"I'll tell her."  She held out too well take the note but all the same she was keeping her
comment to herself that is.Not mention sometimes it is hard to well control some of her power. She could not filter out the voice and it like hearing everyone talk at once. At least he wasn't asking about her power.

Wild Card had completed his mission and so leaving the mansion should have been easy for him. As he walked toward the door however his concionce began to kick in. He had been rather rude to the mutant girl who had answered the door. Just because he was in a cranky mood and stressed beyond all belief didn't give him the right to treat her poorly. She was doing her best it seemed like so he had no right to be a jerk. Wild Card sighed and then let go of the door handle before turning to face the girl.

"I'm sorry, I've been treating you unfairly because i'm not in the best of moods. I hate it when Black Widow uses me as a messenger boy but that doesn't give me the right to be a jerk toward you. Please allow me the chance to start over. My name's Wild Card. Well it's not my real name, ya know secret identity and all that."

Wild Card chuckled and then walked over to the mutant girl and did his best to smile for her. It was obvious that she wasn't one of the core X-men like Rogue or Gambit and was most likely one of trainee x-men that would take the place of an X-man upon their death, retirement or by being recommended. He had no idea what the girls powers were because Mutant abilities came in all shapes and flavors and WC thought it was rude to ask such a question just like he thought it was rude when someone asked him about his legs in his Civilian life. WC just smiled at the young girl.

"Ya know, I've only been here once before. I was here to visit Dr.Macoy once but I didn't get much of a look around. If it's at all possible I would love an actual tour. I'd love to pay my respects to Professor Xavier and Dr.Grey if at all possible as well. I deeply respected them and what they stood for."

Daphne had another moved that is it was counter moved and if he had put his hand on her again. It would kick some place. Most men did not like that moved they would call it dirty moved she call helpful that is with weakness that is.That is she doubt that would be his real name. If so what kind parent would he have if he was named that? Most parent well thinks of their names like Leanard or Jim that is what most people think of the name such that with regard to men that is most did not name their children that are after card.She was not one asked him to come out here. He should be angry with  Black Widow not her because she did not call on phone oh come in here and well she thought he well got all antic over it. That is she herself problem too and well her parent there was the topic that most people she never brought up the fact she was mutant and well they act like it would go away. So she did not bring that up or the no topic which was sister was another no topic.

That is she use not topic about it because her parent did not want to talk about it. They thought it would go like cold or illness. So she never brought though she had scared a bunch people in Florida she went underwater and did not come up for air.  They were piss about the whole topic because of that.  They want to act normal human being that is and well that is she did try too but sometimes she forgot a watch and well to keep how long she was underwater. Yeah, the watch was waterproof so she could pretend she was normal. But then difficult because saw her fish gills and that she start scarf to keep well conceal within it and so nobody see it while her neck was wet.

"Yeah I guess it would be alright. I mean I guess it would be alright since you know Dr.Macoy.   "She did not know honestly what the other Xmen would think of her leading Wild Card around and well that is with the two of them she did not really like to talk about it. She was new to this Xmen thing. She honestly still had the job outside a school as well. That is she work too and did enjoy outside activity. That is she was not a leader of the whole x men thing and what not.  That is she figure she could do both that is. She figures that she would need money to enjoy other activity such as shopping. She figures that much that is she saw before Jack got here. Mr. Scott. From what she heard he was supposed to dead. She figure now she was seeing dead people that what she heard from him. The two had interesting conversation.

Wild Card smiled under his cowl as the young woman led him out to where the graves of the fallen X-men known as Jean Grey,Professor X and the now somehow revived Cyclops sat with burning candles in front of each tomb stone. Both Scott's and Jean's just had the regular x-men symbol on them with their names while Professor Xavier's tomb stone had his face on it. As WC saw them he looked at the woman, his masked expression going a bit sad.

The way the story went or at least what was reported, Jean Grey's powers had gone out of control during the incident with Worthington labs when they tried to create a cure for the X-gene. She had become so dangerous and so powerful that she killed the professor and had to be put down by Wolverine. Jack remembered the day when the funeral had been announced. He was still rather young at the time so he didn't feel right trying to attend but he, like the mutant and handicapped community alike mourned the loss of the icon. He was such a bright light and an excellent mind gone too soon. WC silently walked up to the three grave stones and then reached into his utility belt and pulled out three of his razor cards that had an Ace of Spades on each. He then sat them in front of each grave as an offering.

"I may not be a mutant like those who live in this mansion but I deeply respected both Dr.Grey and the professor. They taught me that we shouldn't let what we are stop us from being who we are and evolving as people. In a way, the professor partly inspired me to become a crime fighter.

Jack then chuckled to hide the fact that he was getting a little choked up thinking about the loss that the world had suffered. Many heroes fell in the line of duty but they knew the risks and still fought anyway. Some shined brighter then others but they were all heroes none the same and Wild Card respected that. Once he was composed again, the young hero laughed and turned back to the woman.

"Ya know, you aren't the first X-man I've met. Right before the whole ultron blow out Rogue thinking I was secretly a mutant like her approached me at my civilian job. She had rookie telapath use her abilities to try and track down mutants but found me instead. I've also met Shadowcat a few times. She had contacted me with a mission to stop an assassination attempt on a government big wig. Pyro from the brotherhood tried to kill them but we stopped him together. As you know I am a friend of Beast's as well and I get mutants coming into my civilian job all the time. I even met Cyclops at Mardi gras once. If I find a homeless mutant, I feed them then give them directions to this place."

Jack smiled and walked back over to the woman with a smile.

"While you show me more of this place, why don't you tell me a little more about yourself. You don't have to spill your biggest secrets, just some friendly odds and ends like how long you have been with the x-men."

Daphne was a contemplating  what he was saying at the graves and what not. After she did take grave she figures that would be good place considering that fact he would not harm that is with people that are grave. People could not harm or think badly of her. Yeah, she was little unsure of herself with Wild Card. Yeah, but at the same, she figures if he knew so and so but then again. Did he know everyone and what not that is not the threat?

That is she never really thought of being hero or crimefighter. It was far from it. She thought of well-being the actress or even getting married. It was far from it because she thought she was not strong enough to a well be that and well. That is if look at other heroes were to do that. Well, she could breathe underwater not many people could do that.

How did Rogue and her meet be quite odd? The Ultron was chasing her and that she was on a bridge and their water down below as got on the bridge she saw it coming that is robot coming for her. She could not get the car to start and she did what anyone does. That is what people called crazy jump off the bridge into the water and she  went underwater and what not. So robot she jumps it would appear to succeed  and what not. That has she thought it was only to keep her family safe she felt being followed and what not. New Orlean was a too far that is. That is she went they stopped because she had to keep fish somewhat most and what not that is with water.

I have been with x men just couple days ago. I meet Rogue." She wasn't married but she often fantastic about actors and what not."Hmm? I am not sure what interest you. My name is Daphne.Most what I can tell you is pretty boring." She herself watch a lot shows she had favorites she wishes she could date some stars and well doctor who. She knew he would not go with her because she was mutant but it was nice to think well fantastic about it.Most guys interesting in something.She said little giggle and what not.She was head for the library that is it one favorite place and well she like read. That is some library and books on shows she watches and what not. Was this date she wonder to herself as they walking and well no she did not know who he was really was. Did he even brother and sister like she did. She had half brother and half sister the two were so extremely different from one another. Most time she read and well just about everything. The problem was when she did that library ran out thing to a read. Yeah, she was a bookworm."This is the library."

As the woman said that she didn't have anything interesting to tell him, WC just shook his head because she couldn't have been more wrong. Every being in the universe no matter how weak,small big or small had an interesting story to tell. That's what people were in a poetic sense, they were all stories waiting to be told and would eventually end up like a book on a shelf. When Daphne took him to the library a look of wonderment filled WC's masked face.

"I've never seen one this big before. What I wouldn't give for a day off just to sit in here with junk food to just read until my head exploded."

WC's voice lost it's rough edges and showed something new. He was truly happily to be in the wondrous place that he now found himself in. He felt like he was close to almost crying with joy. Once did a quick spin to really take a look at the room, he turned to Daphne and looked down at her with an actual small smile. He then turned back to the books and held out his arms.

"Ya know, you said that you didn't have anything interesting to share. I say you're wrong. A great fictional character once said "that we were all stories in the end" but he also was wrong. Our stories don't form at our end, we are all stories right now. We are writing them as we speak. One of these days, you and I could be part of a history book lining these very walls."

WC smiled as he walked up close to one of the shelves for a moment, running his fingers across the paperbacks,hard covers and leather bound jackets that lined the shelves. It took him a moment but he found something that made him smile ear to ear. He plucked a first edition copy of the phantom of the opera by Gaston Leroux. He ran his hand across it with a smile.

"The phantom of the opera has always been my favorite fictional story no matter what it's form. I always identified with the Phantom named Erik. The world treated him like a monster just because of what he looked like. They never took the time to get to know the true tragic genius behind the mask. Let's just say I can relate. I can't tell you how many times I've seen the musical at the Royal Albert Hall. I always wanted to own a first edition but could never find one."

WC put the book back on the shelf and ran his finger down the spine, feeling tears well up in his eyes. Since he wasn't facing Daphne he lifted up his mask just long enough to wipe his eyes. He then turned back to Daphne with a shaky smile to hide his pain.

"I asked you to share about yourself so it's only fair that I do the same. I once had a person in my life. It was someone so close to me, she was my muse, she taught the phantoms story. They taught me to embrace who I am and express it through music. She taught me to sing and play the Bass. They were my angel of music."

WC then turned back toward the book shelf and just locked eyes with the copy of the book once more as if he was looking at the ghost of his mother in all of her angelic beauty.

"Never lose sight of the family you have here. I buried mine long ago. You have a home here, embrace and cherish that. Home isn't just four walls and a roof, that's what a house is made of. What makes it a home are the bonds you forge in that house, blood or not."

WC clenched his fists for a moment before forcing himself to smile to hide his true inner agony.

"Where are we going now?"

That is she listen to a what he was saying that is  how he was doing.that  was was her favorite place with one another.That is was her favorite place the library and well she enjoy reading that is when she read books. What could she say about what she thought about this place? She already read phantom of the opera and well at one point she was in regular school and well she was in drama club.

 

" I do not know if know if it would interest or not.I am just throw out speaking well phantom of the opera. Before I was in this Institute I went to another school. I was drama club. I play Christine. I was in the bunch of school plays.It wasn't as big play like that Royal Albert."

 

She also did play that is she play Joanna from Sweeney Todd. That is for Halloween because most people thought it would be scary considering the fact most people became meat pies and then eaten by other people. That is she play the small part she was only person reight of Sweeney todd. And well could run away. That was small role yes and well her own father did not reconsider her since she grew up. And she did not recognize her she could relate to that is not knowing her own father.

 

That is she knew if the world knew she was mutant does think the world would be the accepted mutant. They did not really accept Erik if they saw his face. That is she went out she put makeup and well everything just conceals her fish gills she did not think they would want to anything to do with her.

 

That is never really considered them the family that far from it. She considers them people who have strange ability that was it. Because one a person someone you alright know from the very beginning of your life. That is they just meet. There was a reason she keeps  at  a distance  she did not want to be hurt again.  Her  parents at distance she got close to the grandfather he died and she tried to kill herself. That is how discovery she  had fish gill that is the bathtub. Nobody knew she did that. They simple she was taking the bath and she had not come out. Well was forced to come out. Things became a little unstable in regard to her grandmother she became the drinker. That is what could interest anyone her grandmother died and well she was murder  her grandmother while she asleep. And to this day she did not know who did it or how it happened.. Then after that she work a bit one could say but what could one say. She did not talk about what happened to her grandmother. That is well she figure that one day they asked what happened she just fell asleep by accident and she thought she had fought the sandman or whatever she could save her but was unable to save to her grandmother. Some hero she could not save her. That is why she never thought of doing being hero.  She would rather talk about happy topic anyway.

"I am not sure if I should around study hall because they might be busy studying. I do not interrupt if they are busy. " At the moment she was moving but they were in the hallway and well not sure what else they should say to a one another that is.  There was some room she could not go to men Dorm that is she could not go there. That is they could dining room and was pondering on that matter they had so many place to or go kitchen. Are you hungry by any chance we could stopped by the kitchen and get you something to eat if you like?" She did not take study hall have him go well everyone go turn toward him and well wonder who in world is interupting there studying.

WC smiled a bit as Daphne revealed to him that she used to be an actress. He could just imagine her dressed as Christine, singing and smiling and just pouring her heart on the stage. It did Jack's heart good to know the performing arts hadn't died in the world of craziness and monsters. Once he finished imagining her on stage, he pictured himself outside of Hal's pizza playing and singing for his customers to entertain them as they ate. It did his heart good indeed. As they walked out of the library, he looked back one final time at the book he adored and just bowed his head in respect.

"When I'm not doing the whole hero thing, I often play music and sing for the less fortunate in local places in hopes that I can keep the performing arts alive in these times of pain and fighting. Music and Art keep the world turning in my opinion. Maybe one day I could try and pull some strings and get you an audition at the royal Albert hall. I could then come see you sing but you wouldn't know it was me."

WC smiled at Daphne to show her that he was truly beginning to warm up to her and feel more comfortable around her. As she asked if he was hungry, he scratched his masked chin a bit with a warm smile. If he was honest, he was rather hungry but Natasha was already gonna bust him for taking so long with his mission so if he stopped to eat then things would be much worse.

"Thank you but no. If it's alright with you Lady Daphne I would like to see where you and the other students train separately from the X-men. I want to see what kinda stuff you guys use to excersice your abilities."

WC hoped that he didn't offend Daphne by not accepting her offer food but he really did need to see what the x-men were working with. War was coming and he needed to make sure they were ready.

Daphne thought that was a long time ago. That is she has not been on staged since the drama club that is. After that she was finish and the reason she was done.Well she had that talent that is she was quiet good and well she had not  consider that good. That is she would not know it was him because so many people went there. Pulling string so she would be on stage. But she did not think she would be allow out on stage well being what she was.That is well she was mutant and well she did not think she could be stage be mutant. After that boring work of being receptist and well for office building and what not. Then waitress as well but what could one say she had do things as well.She had not been on stage  in her old school in years.


"It been awhile since I did that since I did play."Well it would be more date and well she could see it now other students wondering who that mask man was. Not sure he would make good impression that is did everybody know  Wildcard and what not.Well that grandmother make sure that well one someone come to a house. Offter them something to a eat and what not. It was old fashion that is way things are and what not.
 
"It's alright I understand hungry. We have so many rooms here. That was why I asked."With her she got hungry and well people got hungry and well she did not say much about it and what not.The black Willow and well she thought might good show him library to say the least fill with books of knowledge is just as important as fighting and what not. What would Black Willow say if this mission turn into a date.  Alot not so date thing.That is very long time she wasn't do play mainly because it been a long time ago. That is well she decide to a head for the danger room and what not was where they going that is. "This is the danger room." It had holographic and what not that was used to a train one another.

Jack couldn't help but whistle as Daphne led him to the legendary danger room. He had heard tales of the X-men training all of their recruits here but he had to admit that the stories didn't do it justice. Jack examined the controls as well as the room itself. It seemed that the stories were true about how the X-men created Holograms to fight against to test all of there skills. Jack would have to ask Rogue if he could use this room at some point. Once Jack was finished examining the room he felt as if his mission was over and truth be told he was craving some southern style food. He turned to Daphne with a warm smile.

"I think I've seen all I need to see for my mission. I am getting a bit hungry for some southern style food. I know a kick ass steak house downtown if ya wanna grab a bite between new friends? It will be my treat. I just need ya to show me where you guys keep some spare clothes, I forgot my street clothes back at Base cause I thought I was just gonna be in and out."

Jack smiled and walked up to Daphne and gave her a warm smile and a squeeze of the shoulder. Truth be told he was fond of this young girl in terms of friendship. The only person he was looking to form a romantic relationship with was Kitty and so he didn't wanna lead this young woman on. The truth was, He had a lot in common with her and so he didn't see any harm in treating her to a nice meal. She deserved it how he treated her in the beginning.

"The place is called Texas Roadhouse and I swear that it has the best chicken fried stake I've ever had and the decore is like a modernized old western restaurant and saloon. It makes ya forget you are in a noisy city."

Jack's normally stoic and flat voice got an element of excitement in it at the prospect of having None city food and nice company. He hoped that the young woman agreed to the outing.
